Anxiety Treatment from Jennifer Hill Counseling

June 25, 2016

Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the United States and cost the country over $42 billion each year, which is roughly one-third of the country’s total mental health bill. At Jennifer Hill Counseling, we offer anxiety treatment services that focus on non-invasive and supportive techniques to help our patients relieve their anxiety symptoms immediately.
What Is Anxiety?

Anxiety stems from an overreaction to a situation that stimulates a cycle of negative thoughts that often lead to symptoms such as muscular tension, restlessness, fatigue and concentration problems. Everybody experiences anxiety every now and then – whether it’s before a job interview or company meeting – but when it occurs on a regular enough basis that it interferes with an individual’s everyday functioning, that’s when it’s time to seek treatment.

Our Approach

The Jennifer Hill Counseling team has numerous interventions catered to various degrees of anxiety. However, our most effective and commonly used method of anxiety treatment is cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), which aims to focus on your thoughts and the emotions, behaviors and consequences that stem from them.

Why CBT?

Understanding the relationships between your thoughts, emotions, behaviors and the consequences that follow them helps individuals identify negative thoughts and better understand their thought processes when they’re anxious. This understanding allows them to replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts, ultimately leading to positive emotions, behaviors and consequences.

Additional Approaches

In addition to CBT, our team also sometimes incorporates mindfulness approaches with imagery or in-vivo exposure therapy to increase the effectiveness of the CBT process. The end result is a better understanding of how your anxiety manifests and the best ways to take control of it.

Benefits

Through our anxiety treatment program, you will receive numerous benefits including an improvement in your interpersonal relationships, personal growth and management of stressors and fears that you encounter in your daily life.
Other Problems

People suffering from anxiety are also at a higher risk of developing other psychiatric problems including depression and substance abuse. To make matters worse, substance abuse is linked to suicide and violence, compounding the core symptoms of anxiety into a variety of other dangerous problems.
Anxiety problems can negatively impact your life and impact your work, home and public life. Seeking anxiety treatment can be tough and statistics show that many people with anxiety disorders don’t seek out treatment due to their anxiety. Our team will help you feel comfortable, secure and confident throughout the treatment process and guide you on the path towards eliminating the fear and anxiety that is crippling your life.
